Myths & Legends programme at GoMA
It’s always worth checking out the new three-monthly programmes at Brisbane’s Gallery of Modern Art cinema, and the January to March line up presents a few pearls of Asian cinema that you may want to catch on the big screen, even if you have seen them before (because I don’t know about you, but any opportunity to see Seven Samurai at the cinema is to be taken, as far as I’m concerned):

GCFF 2014 on now!
With the weather the way it’s been (warm and muggy when not raining) it’s not like you need an excuse to go to the beach, but if you do, the great Gold Coast Film Festival is one of the best. It kicks off tomorrow, and again the GCFF’s partnership with Supanova and their commitment to regional and cult film means that there’s some great Asian cinema to be had!

Japanese Film Festival 2013
Just a quick update to say that the Japanese Film Festival in Australia has just announced their dates and core program of films for this year, their 17th festival. Twelve films in five cities, plus an abridged travelling program that takes in five more cities!… (read more)
Japanese Cinema Week in Sydney
Lucky, lucky Sydneysiders! From the 16th to the 20th of April, you can be front and centre for the fabulous Japan Foundation’s Japanese Cinema Week, and as a long-time Japanese cinema fan who happens to live in Brisbane, I am so green with jealousy.
