The character makes a living through his fighting skills. He can be a professional soldier in the regular military, a
part-time soldier in the militia, a mercenary (enlisted in the regular military, or for private hire), a member of a hereditary
military family, or a member of a martial arts school or society.
Characters in the military who wish to attain high rank should also pick the Scholar occupation, although it is not
absolutely necessary. Often, civil officials, and imperial favorites are appointed into high military positions, irrespective
of their qualifications. Similarly, soldiers who exemplify themselves on campaign are often promoted based on their
martial merits, irrespective of their education.
Part-time soldiers are typically drawn from the ranks of the peasantry, so their primary occupation is that of Farmer.
