You’ve got to be up on the news already, but if you’re not, I’m here to spread the word – it’s Japanese Film Festival time of year again, and oh my God, the program line up has me a bit giddy!
ALL THREE RUROUNI KENSHIN MOVIES (Ok, sorry about the capslock there. I’ll try and calm down a bit). Lupin the Third live action movie!!! Tale of Princess Kaguya and Patema Inverted. Kirishima Thing, and by the same director, Pale Moon. The sequel to Thermae Romae. Kiki’s Delivery Service live action movie. The musical Lady Maiko (musical!!). And that’s not even the complete list!
Seriously, JFF seems to be going all out this year, so far in fact it’s also landing in NZ! That’s right. The big NZ 3 – Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch – are on the cities list this year too.
Schedules for Adelaide and Canberra are on out now, and the rest of the films I was too overwhelmed to list here are of course on the JFF website. Mark it in your diaries, keep your eye out for the schedules for your cities. Dig in the back of your sofa and that little tray in your car for all your spare change, because this is the best thing that’s going to happen to you for the rest of the year and you don’t want to be the only one who misses it!
