Just a quick update to say that the Japanese Film Festival in Australia has just announced their dates and core program of films for this year, their 17th festival. Twelve films in five cities, plus an abridged travelling program that takes in five more cities!
You can see the core program in all its glory at the official JFF website, and we’ll post another update to HC when we know more about the extended program for Melbourne and Sydney. (They’re also looking for volunteers, if you’re interested in helping out.)
The dates and venues are as follows:
Brisbane: 16–20 Oct, at Events Cinema Brisbane Myer Centre
Perth: 23–27 Oct, at Hoyts Westfield Carousel & State Library Theatre
Canberra: 30 Oct – 3 Nov, at Capital Cinema Manuka
Sydney: 14–24 Nov, at Event Cinemas George Street
Melbourne: 28 Nov – 8 Dec, at Hoyts Melbourne Central & ACMI
The five cities for the abridged program are:
Broome: 17–18 Sep (this coming week!), at Notre Dame University
Townsville: 26 Oct, at Reading Cinemas, Thuringowa Central
Hobart: 13, 14, 16 Oct, at the State Cinema
Cairns: 3 Nov, at Cairns Central Shopping Centre
Darwin: (dates still to be announced)
